Job summary

ServiceNow Veza Identity is seeking a seasoned Sr Staff Backend Engineer to architect, design, develop, optimize, and maintain AI-assisted access-security features for enterprise environments. You will build secure, scalable backend services using Go and Python, lead cross-functional teams, and drive high-performance systems that enable risk detection and remediation workflows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in backend software development for enterprise production software.
• Strong proficiency in Golang; knowledge of Python or Java.
• Experience designing RESTful, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs; SQL and PostgreSQL; Neo4j.
• Leadership experience leading cross-functional technical projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders to craft solutions that balance innovation, performance, and business impact.
• Champion the responsible use of LLM frameworks, AI agents, and AI-driven access intelligence to deliver enterprise-ready capabilities for identity and access use cases.
• Explore emerging technologies and patterns in identity and access management to deliver greater customer value while improving solution resilience, scalability, and performance.
• Participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables, including architecture, design, quality, performance, maintainability, and code reviews.
• Integrate automated testing into development workflows to ensure consistent quality across releases.
• Mentor and guide other engineers by sharing engineering practices, raising quality standards, and fostering continuous improvement in testing, reliability, and production readiness.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery, steering capabilities from early design and architecture to release, operational oversight, and ongoing stability.
