ServiceNow Veza Identity is seeking a seasoned Sr Staff Backend Engineer to architect, design, develop, optimize, and maintain AI-assisted access-security features for enterprise environments. You will build secure, scalable backend services using Go and Python, lead cross-functional teams, and drive high-performance systems that enable risk detection and remediation workflows.

Job Description

The Access Security team is building the intelligence layer for the ServiceNow Veza Identity solution, helping enterprises answer one of the most important security questions: who and what can access critical resources?We turn complex identity and access data into clear, actionable insights so customers can uncover risky access, prioritize remediation, and reduce exposure before issues become incidents.

Qualifications

• Applied AI experience:Practical experience integrating AI, ML,or LLM capabilities into production workflows, such as decision support, risk analysis, automation, or security-focused access intelligence.
• Experience:10+ years in backend software development, with deep technical hands-on experience building complex Enterprise production software.
• Languages & Architecture:Strongproficiencyin Golang and other key programming languages (e.g., Python or Java), with a strong architectural vision.
• Data and APIs:Expertisedesigning and implementing RESTful,GraphQL, andgRPCAPIs, with strongproficiencyin data modeling, SQL, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and graph technologies such as Neo4j.
• Systems Engineering:Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Leadership:Proventrack recordof leading major, cross-functional technical projects from conception to launch.
• Education:Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, ora relatedfield.
• Soft Skills:Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Domain Expertise:Prior experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), IGA, and PAM solutions.
• Cloud & DevOps:Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Artificial Intelligence:Hands-on familiarity building withcutting-edgeLLM frameworks and provider libraries like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google.
• Quality & Testing:Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Mindset:Strong senseof ownership and customer focus, with a passion for user experience and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $171,900 - $300,800, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
