Zusammenfassung

Pearson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end architecture and delivery of scalable backend and full-stack features in a cloud-native AWS environment. You will design, build, operate, and evolve complex services with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance.

You will partner with product managers, architects, and global teams, mentor engineers, and drive initiatives from discovery through production, balancing new capabilities with modernization and technical debt

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS, software engineering, IT, or related field; master’s is a plus.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems.
• Experience as a technical lead or senior engineer for complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of backend concepts: distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, resiliency, and performance.
• Proficient in at least one modern strongly-typed language such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing microservices, RESTful APIs, asynchronous workflows, event-driven architectures, streaming systems, and integration services.
• Extensive AWS and cloud-native engineering experience including multiple AWS services and IaC.

Aufgaben

• Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable, reliable, secure backend services, distributed systems, event-driven applications, and stream-processing solutions.
• Own major engineering initiatives from discovery through delivery, production rollout, and ongoing support.
• Balance new feature delivery with modernization, debt reduction, reliability improvements, and maintenance of existing systems.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, operations, and other teams to translate requirements into practical technical approaches.
• Develop and communicate technical proposals outlining architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs.
• Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and system design discussions for complex initiatives.
• Design APIs, microservices, asynchronous workflows, event-driven systems, and cloud-native services that scale with product needs.
