Pearson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who will own and build scalable backend systems, lead architecture decisions, and guide distributed cloud-native platforms on AWS. You will drive end-to-end delivery, work with product and architecture teams, mentor engineers, and ensure production reliability, observability, and maintainability across onshore and offshore locations.

Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and strong communication skills are essential for balancing

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or senior engineer on complex initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of backend engineering concepts and distributed systems.
• Strong programming experience in Java/Kotlin/Scala/TypeScript or similar languages.
• Experience designing microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native systems.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native engineering across multiple services.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and observability practices.
• Excellent communication and ability to document decisions clearly.

Aufgaben

• Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable backend services, distributed systems, and stream-processing solutions on AWS.
• Own major engineering initiatives from discovery through delivery and production rollout.
• Balance new feature delivery with modernization, debt reduction, and reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations teams to translate requirements.
• Develop technical proposals and communicate solution architectures and trade-offs.
• Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and system design discussions.
• Design APIs, microservices, asynchronous workflows, and cloud-native services.
• Evaluate existing capabilities and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
• Provide technical leadership across onshore and offshore teams and drive initiatives to completion.
