Pearson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve scalable backend systems in a full-stack role with emphasis on backend, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture on AWS. You will lead initiatives end-to-end, driving architecture, design, and production readiness while balancing modernization with reliability.

You will collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations teams, mentor engineers, and help shape engineering standards across globally distributed

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, developing, and operating backend systems.
• Strong background in distributed systems, concurrency, and scalability.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Deep AWS cloud-native engineering experience across multiple services.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor engineers.

Responsabilités

• Lead architecture, design, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable, reliable backend services and stream-processing solutions.
• Own major engineering initiatives from discovery to delivery and production rollout.
• Balance new features with modernization, reliability, and debt reduction.
• Collaborate across product, architecture, security, and operations teams.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to onshore and offshore teams.
