Scribd, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for Content Foundations to build and lead the team that owns how content enters Scribd. This role sits at the intersection of large‑scale data infrastructure and applied AI, guiding real‑time ingestion and platform reliability.

You will hire and grow backend and AI data engineers, shape culture and standards, and partner with product and engineering leaders to align roadmaps across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with leadership experience
• 3+ years leading backend, data‑infrastructure, or platform teams
• Experience with high‑throughput distributed systems and data pipelines
• Enthusiasm for applied AI in production systems
• Platform‑product mindset for building reusable systems
• Security‑minded design for untrusted input and data protection
• Strong emphasis on reliability, observability, and on‑call readiness
• Clear, direct communication with cross‑functional partners

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and strategy for how content enters Scribd and evolve the ingestion platform
• Build state‑of‑the‑art AI into the platform and integrate ML models
• Turn platform capabilities into product impact with the content organization roadmap
• Lead, grow, and inspire a founding team of backend and AI data engineers
• Run the team as a product with a defined roadmap and commitments
• Champion security as a core design principle across the platform
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders across teams to align on shared goals
