Job summary

Scribd, Inc. is seeking an engineering manager for Content Foundations to lead a high-scale backend and AI data engineering team. You will set the vision for real-time, AI-native content ingestion and drive architectural decisions for a platform relied on across the company.

You will hire and grow engineers, define standards, and partner with product to deliver a roadmap. You’ll champion security and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional leaders to advance Scribd’s content

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with 3+ years leading backend/data-infra/platform teams.
• Experience with high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Interest or experience with applying AI in production systems.
• Strong platform-product mindset and ability to design interfaces and SLAs.
• Security-minded design principles and safe handling of untrusted input.
• Operational excellence: reliability, observability, on-call health.
• Clear, direct communication with product, engineering, and cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and strategy for how content enters Scribd and evolve the real-time ingestion platform.
• Integrate AI into the core platform so documents are understood and enriched at ingest.
• Turn platform capabilities into product impact with the content organization roadmap.
• Lead and grow a founding backend/AI data engineering team and shape its culture and standards.
• Run the team as a product with a defined roadmap, priorities, and commitments across teams.
• Champion security as a first-class design principle for a large-scale content platform.
• Influence across trust & safety, content understanding, supply, and AI platform teams.
