Job summary

Scribd, Inc. is hiring an engineering manager for Content Foundations to engineer how content enters Scribd, combining real-time ingestion with AI-powered processing at scale. You will lead backend and AI data engineers, shape culture and standards, and partner with product for the content roadmap.

You will influence security and reliability while building interfaces for cross-team collaboration and ensuring high-quality data flows across the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, including leadership of backend, data-infrastructure, or platform engineering teams.
• Depth in high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines, with ingestion and transformation at scale.
• Enthusiasm for applying AI in production systems, with experience or intent integrating ML models and LLM-based processing.
• Platform-product mindset with interfaces, SLAs, and dependencies across teams.
• Security-minded approach to building systems, with safe handling of untrusted input and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and strategy for how content enters Scribd and lead the evolution of a real-time, AI-native ingestion platform.
• Build state-of-the-art AI into the platform by partnering with ML/AI teams so documents are understood, trusted, and enriched from arrival.
• Turn platform capability into product impact by delivering supply-side roadmap and making content discoverable and groundable by AI.
• Lead, grow, and inspire a founding team of backend and AI data engineers, shaping culture, standards, and career growth.
• Run the team as a product, defining roadmap, priorities, and commitments used by cross-team planning, and ensure operational excellence of the system.
• Champion security as a first-class design principle, enabling safe processing of untrusted content at scale.
• Influence across the organization by partnering with senior product and engineering leaders to align content mission.
