Job summary

UL Solutions in Evanston, IL, seeks a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to set cloud strategy, design scalable infrastructure, and guide an MSP engineering team. You will oversee multi-cloud initiatives, drive standards, and ensure secure, cost-effective operations.

You will lead architecture, implement IaC with Terraform, and maintain CI/CD pipelines. The role combines hands-on design with strong leadership across diverse teams in a research and standards setting environment.

Qualifications

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise cloud infrastructure across major cloud platforms.
• Coordinate an MSP-based engineering team, assign work, review deliverables, and drive execution to SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, and advance enterprise cloud infrastructure strategy and solutions.
• Mentor and coach engineers, promote engineering best practices, and ensure secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environments.
• Provide architectural guidance and direct complex infrastructure projects across multiple teams.
• Hands-on solution design and delivery with Terraform as primary provisioning standard; CloudFormation where needed.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for provisioning, deployment, testing, and policy enforcement.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and operational procedures for internal staff and MSP partners.
