UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement in Evanston, IL, seeks a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to define, design, and advance enterprise cloud strategy; hands-on and senior leadership across major cloud platforms. You will direct MSP-based teams, set standards, mentor engineers, and drive cloud modernization while ensuring secure, scalable environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
8+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with enterprise-scale exposure.
3+ years leading cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
Experience leading a technical team or MSP partnership.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize enterprise cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Lead MSP-based team, assign work, review deliverables, and ensure SLAs.
Act as technical escalation point for MSP services and vendor staffing decisions.
Establish cloud standards, governance, and security practices.
Provide architectural guidance for complex infrastructure projects.
Lead IaC with Terraform and CloudFormation, plus automation with Ansible.
Build CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for provisioning and deployment.
Create documentation and runbooks for internal and MSP use.
Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Drive cross-functional initiatives and maintain stakeholder alignment.
