Job summary

UL Research Institutes in Evanston, IL, is seeking a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to shape the enterprise cloud strategy and mentor an MSP engineering team. You will drive architecture standards, security, and scalable deployments while remaining hands‑on in design and delivery.

Responsibilities include leading cloud infrastructure design across AWS/Azure/GCP, guiding the MSP, implementing IaC with Terraform, and building robust CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.

Qualifications

• Advanced cloud engineering experience across AWS, Azure or GCP with hands‑on proficiency.
• Experience leading MSP-based engineering teams and coordinating vendor delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize enterprise cloud infrastructure.
• Lead and direct MSP engineering team; set priorities and review deliverables.
• Establish cloud architecture standards, governance, and security practices.
• Design IaC strategies using Terraform (and CloudFormation when needed).
• Build CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for provisioning, deployment, and testing.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives and document architectures.
