Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement seeks a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer in Evanston, IL to drive enterprise cloud strategy. You will lead MSP teams, set standards for architecture, and deliver IaC-driven modernization across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Strong hands-on skills and leadership are essential for success. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional groups, and shape governance while ensuring secure, scalable cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, or related areas.
• Minimum 3 years leading complex cloud transformation or modernization initiatives.
• Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud provider and familiarity with a second.

Responsibilities

• Lead MSP-based engineering teams, set priorities, and ensure delivery against SLAs.
• Define cloud architecture standards, governance, and best practices.
• Design and implement IaC strategies using Terraform as primary tool.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for deployments and testing.
• Mentor engineers, promote engineering best practices, and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups to drive cloud modernization initiatives.
