Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Controllers Systems Engineer to lead hands-on integration of embedded controllers across lunar and spaceflight hardware. You will define test strategies, perform Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, and guide anomaly resolution with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years in integration, testing, and troubleshooting embedded systems or avionics hardware.
  • Experience with HIL test environments, planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Proficient with lab equipment for debugging and verification.
  • Strong knowledge of digital communication protocols and physical-layer debugging.
  • Experience owning a technical baseline for a product.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to lead technical reviews.
  • Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced R&D.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end execution for multiple embedded controllers including requirements, interfaces, tests, and verification closure.
  • Lead anomaly triage and root cause analysis with cross-functional SMEs and present changes to leadership.
  • Define integration criteria and verification strategy; plan and execute HIL testing to demonstrate compliance.
  • Perform hands-on avionics troubleshooting, harness integration, RS-422/RS-485 debugging, and signal verification.
  • Collaborate with vehicle teams to define constraints and verification evidence needs.
  • Identify reuse opportunities from prior hardware builds to streamline campaigns and schedules.
  • Coordinate multi-tier supplier execution and internal alignment to accelerate root cause resolution.
  • Contribute to fault-tolerant motor control verification, redundancy, safe-state behavior, and built-in test.
