Job summary

Blue Origin, a leader in space exploration, seeks an experienced avionics engineering leader to own the full lifecycle of complex hardware products for lunar vehicles. You will architect, design, verify, and production‑readiness coordinate across multiple disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, embedded software, FPGA, and controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design, development, build, integration, test, or verification of avionics or high‑reliability hardware products.
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex hardware products through the full development lifecycle, including architecture, requirements, design, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustaining engineering.
  • Expertise in flight computers, embedded controllers, I/O hardware, analog or mixed‑signal electronics, digital electronics, power electronics, FPGA-based systems, electronic packaging, or controls interfaces.
  • Proven ability to lead complex hardware troubleshooting and communicate risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to program and leadership stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development and technical delivery of complex avionics hardware products, establishing the product architecture, requirements, interfaces, development strategy, verification approach, and path to production.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through design, build, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustainment; make sound technical tradeoffs balancing performance, reliability, safety, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
  • Lead hardware test and anomaly-resolution efforts, including bench troubleshooting with electronic test equipment, root-cause analysis, corrective-action development, risk assessment, and verification of implemented solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical integrator across electrical hardware, mechanical enclosures and packaging, embedded software, FPGA, controls, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, test, and mission assurance organizations.
  • Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, improve engineering methods and tools, and drive product and process improvements that strengthen quality, development efficiency, and mission success.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering or related technical field
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
