Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior avionics leader to own end-to-end development of complex aerospace hardware, including flight computers, embedded controllers, and FPGA-based systems. You will guide architecture, requirements, and interfaces from concept through production and sustainment, working with suppliers and internal teams to mitigate risk and enable reliable spaceflight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in design, development, build, integration, test, or verification of avionics or high‑reliability hardware products.
  • Experience owning complex hardware through full development lifecycle including architecture, requirements, design, integration, verification, production, sustaining.
  • Expertise in flight computers, embedded controllers, I/O hardware, analog/digital electronics, FPGA, or controls interfaces.
  • Proven ability to lead hardware troubleshooting and communicate risks, tradeoffs and decisions to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development and technical delivery of complex avionics hardware products and establish architecture, requirements, interfaces, and path to production.
  • Provide hands-on leadership through design, build, integration, verification, qualification, production and sustainment; balance performance, safety, cost and manufacturability.
  • Lead hardware test and anomaly-resolution with bench testing, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, risk assessment, verification of solutions.
  • Serve as primary technical integrator across electrical hardware, mechanical enclosures, embedded software, FPGA, controls, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, test, and mission assurance.
  • Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, improve methods/tools, and drive product/process improvements for quality and mission success.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another related technical field
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
