Job summary
RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Avionics Engineering team within the Aftermarket Systems group. You will translate customer needs into hardware and software requirements, drive system architecture decisions, and support on-aircraft installation and testing of avionics updates.
The role emphasizes system integration, verification, and documentation throughout the development lifecycle, with mentorship opportunities and a path toward technical leadership
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 3 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- System-level requirements development by analyzing customer specifications and translating them into hardware/software needs.
- Design solutions that meet future airspace and mandate requirements.
- Functional analyses, architectural exploration, and trade studies to evaluate design alternatives considering performance, cost, and risk.
- System integration activities, including creating interface definitions and verifying system behavior against requirements.
- Verification and validation planning and execution, including test procedure development and data analysis.
- Identification of potential technical or schedule risks and mitigation planning with other engineers.
- Support on-aircraft installation of avionics updates and ground/flight testing.
- Maintain system configuration and documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
