Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to lead avionics hardware development within the DCCN Directorate. You will drive design cycles, oversee CCA/PCB layouts, and ensure EMI/ENV qualification for rugged mission computers and network products.

Collaborate across Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams, mentor engineers, and champion Design to Cost, DFM, and DFT across all phases from pursuit to factory transition.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree with years of experience; advanced degree optional.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and robust problem solving in avionics hardware.
• Experience with Avionics I/O interfaces and EMI/ENV testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead LRU development through all design phases.
• Design and analyze circuit card assemblies for avionics computers.
• Coordinate lab integration testing of hardware designs.
• Schematic capture for digital/analog mixed-signal designs.
• Oversight of PCB layout and manufacturability considerations.
• Apply DTC, DFM, and DFT across programs.
• Mentor less experienced engineers on the team.
• Lead EMI and ENV qualification efforts for LRUs.
