Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace arm in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to drive system-level requirements and retrofit solutions for the fleet. You will translate customer needs into hardware and software specifications, lead analyses, and support installation and testing of avionics updates.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers in a dynamic team, contributing to risk mitigation and lifecycle documentation while delivering performance, cost, and schedule targets in a

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 3 years of experience
• Prior systems experience with Collins Aerospace is preferred
• Experience with code or script development; integration lab/testing experience; ability to manage tasks with minimal oversight
• Private Pilot License or general passion for aviation

Responsibilities

• System-level requirements development by analyzing customer specifications and translating into hardware/software needs
• Design solutions meeting future airspace and mandate requirements
• Functional analyses, architectural exploration, and trade studies evaluating design alternatives
• System integration activities including interface definitions and verification against requirements
• Verification and validation planning and execution including test development and data analysis
• Identify risks and mitigate with other engineers
• Support on-aircraft installation of avionics updates and ground/flight testing
• Maintain system configuration and documentation through development lifecycle
