Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Chief Engineer in the Engines Business Unit in Huntsville, AL. You will provide independent avionics/electrical systems oversight across programs, ensuring technical integrity from concept to fielding with focus on manufacturability and life-cycle cost.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Aerospace, or equivalent.
• 15+ years in avionics, safety-critical electronic or control systems.
• Experience with analog, digital, software and firmware designs and development.
• Experience with wire harness design with production considerations.
• Knowledge of instrumentation sensors and actuators, certification processes.
• Proven leadership in aerospace product development and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and standardize design processes/tools for avionics systems.
• Oversee avionics design to meet performance and manufacturability targets.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to reduce costs and increase throughput.
• Assess and disposition technical risks with cost/schedule context.
• Chair gated design reviews for avionics systems and components.
• Collaborate with product teams on lifecycle solutions.
• Provide and lead independent reviews of avionics failures at program level.
• Lead technical trades and advise teams on solutions.
• Partner with leadership to align technology roadmaps with needs.
