Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer in Houston to maximize equipment reliability and performance in fulfillment centers. You will troubleshoot complex control systems, mentor junior engineers, and lead cross-functional teams to optimize MHE systems, including conveyors, sortation, and SCADA devices.

You will work with state-of-the-art technology and contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring fast and accurate order fulfillment while maintaining high safety and reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of PLC/automation experience.
• 4+ years of process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis experience.
• 4+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
• 4+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic and structure programming experience.
• 4+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and support automation engineers to investigate root causes and plan actions to minimize downtime of critical assets.
• Collaborate with Operations, FC Start-up Team, software teams, and Safety to optimize MHE systems and implement projects.
• Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
• Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues across operations.
• Provide escalation support during and after hours to ensure timely repairs of hardware or controls software.
