Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking an experiencedInstrumentation & Controls Engineer to design PLC-based control systems, SIS, and related automation platforms. You will work on multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to specifications, programming, testing, and documentation for industrial facilities.

You will participate in training in our Automation Lab, engage in Communities of Practice, and provide I&C field support during construction, with travel to client sites as required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• MS degree preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experience with designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes in industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; Modbus/Profibus a plus).

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other discipline engineers on PLC-based control systems and SIS.
• Prepare specifications and design media for software, instrumentation, and control system procurement and implementation.
• Grow expertise through training and our Automation Lab and Communities of Practice.
• Lead or participate in I&C field engineering support during construction and acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot and recommend electrical and control system hardware and software solutions.
• Program PLC/HMI, perform Software V&V, and produce documentation including O&M manuals.
