Job summary

The Hartford in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Claims Specialist to manage a caseload of complex Auto and General Liability matters through the full lifecycle. This role may handle litigated Personal and Advertising Injury claims and requires experience with defense counsel; hybrid or remote work options are available with some office presence as needed.

You will investigate, evaluate coverage, set reserves, present cases to leadership, manage litigation, and deliver clear reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; law degree a plus.
• Minimum seven years handling complex litigated Auto and General Liability matters.
• Disciplined, results-oriented with focus on bottom-line results.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and analyze information to support claims.
• Make coverage determinations and communicate positions to insureds and required parties.
• Set reserves within authority and monitor adjustments.
• Present cases to management for reserve authority above established levels.
• Develop resolution strategies and manage litigation with counsel.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior claim leadership.
• Support field offices on coverage and liability analysis.
• Evaluate claim trends with business partners.
• Address inquiries from agents and policyholders with superior service.
