Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Law degree a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years (Consultant) and 7 years (Specialist) General Liability experience handling complex claims, litigated coverage and liability matters.
• Experience handling litigated matters and managing defense counsel is required.
• Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills with ability to influence others.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and analyze information to evaluate claims.
• Make coverage determinations and communicate positions to insureds and required parties.
• Set reserves within prescribed authority and monitor regularly for adjustments.
• Present cases to management for authority above established levels.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies to achieve high quality outcomes.
• Proactively manage litigation and counsel, including budgeting and bill review.
• Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
• Provide support to field offices with coverage and liability analysis and trend evaluation.
• Address inquiries from agents and policyholders with superior customer service.
