Job summary

GitLab is seeking an Assigned Support Engineer to act as a trusted technical advisor for our largest Self-managed, GitLab Dedicated, and GitLab.com customers. You’ll combine Linux expertise with GitLab/CI-CD knowledge to prevent disruptions and optimize customer environments.

In this distributed role, you’ll triage, troubleshoot, and resolve issues while building reusable content and guiding stakeholders across Product, Development, and Success teams. Remote, global in scope.

Qualifications

• Experience managing complex, customer-facing support cases end to end.
• Advanced troubleshooting across applications, infrastructure and integrations.
• Proven Linux systems administration skills and debugging experience.
• Experience with GitLab and CI/CD environments.
• Ability to write clear, reusable support content and runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to GitLab’s largest Self-managed, Dedicated, and GitLab.com customers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues using Zendesk, logs, and Linux tools like strace.
• Build proactive relationships with customer stakeholders to address blockers.
• Advise on incidents and outages impacting workflows and resilience.
• Create and improve documentation and knowledge articles for the team.
• Contribute to hiring processes by reviewing applications and participating in interviews.
