Job summary

GitLab Federal, LLC is seeking a Support Engineer for the U.S. Government Support Engineering team.

You will operate at the intersection of Support and Engineering, enabling public sector organizations to run GitLab in secure environments, including FedRAMP‑authorized and air‑gapped deployments. In this remote role, you’ll diagnose complex issues using Linux tooling, analyze logs, contribute to documentation, and participate in on‑call rotations.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux systems administration knowledge for troubleshooting in complex environments.
• Experience handling customer-facing support across the full lifecycle.
• Ability to script in Ruby or Bash and work with Rails-based tooling.
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD and related automation workflows.
• Experience with container orchestration tools like OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of AI/LLM-powered developer tooling and gateway configurations.
• Excellent documentation and ability to explain technical topics clearly.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues for public sector deployments.
• Analyze logs and system behavior to identify root causes and mitigations.
• Document edge cases and contribute to reusable support content.
• Collaborate with Product, Development, and Infrastructure teams to improve solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely incident responses.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring discussions to grow the team.
