Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Support Engineer embedded in the Engineering department, working with Self-managed and GitLab.com customers. You will resolve issues, contribute to code and documentation, and help improve support processes.

You will collaborate with Product, Development, and Infrastructure teams, write bug reports, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure timely incident response and high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience managing customer-facing cases from first contact to resolution.
• Strong Linux systems administration knowledge (LFCE/RHCE level).
• Ability to script in Ruby or Bash and work with MVC frameworks like Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with GitLab implementations and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support a mix of Self-managed and GitLab.com customers via Zendesk tickets, merge requests, email and video calls.
• Collaborate with Product, Development, Infrastructure, Customer Success and Sales to define goals, roadmap and priorities.
• Create and update documentation based on customer interactions.
• Collaborate with Support teammates and other GitLab members to share knowledge and improve processes.
• Participate in on-call rotations for weekday and weekend coverage as needed.
• Participate in hiring processes by reviewing applications and participating in interviews.
