Job summary

NELSON is seeking a Senior Architect to lead Civic & Justice projects, overseeing design, CD/CA production, and coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate has extensive experience across design phases and a California license.

Responsibilities include leading design development, preparing construction documents, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards while mentoring staff and promoting an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Active California architect license required.
• Minimum 12 years of industry experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SpecLink, Newforma, SketchUp, Photoshop and InDesign.
• Experience with Civic & Justice projects is required such as correctional facilities and courthouses.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and technical questions for the project team.
• Mentor staff and share knowledge across the studio.
• Prepare and oversee Concept through Construction Documents.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
• Sign and seal drawings as needed.
• Oversee QA procedures and code compliance.
