Job summary

NELSON Worldwide, LLC is seeking a Senior Architect for its Civic & Justice Practice in California. The role leads design through CD/CA phases, coordinates with clients and consultants, and mentors staff while delivering robust design solutions for public safety facilities.

The ideal candidate has extensive project experience, CA licensure, and a track record in Civic & Justice projects such as courthouses and detention facilities. Travel and leadership duties are expected.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology and materials application.
• Good understanding of project budgets and schedules.
• Extensive knowledge of building regulations, life safety codes and ADA requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of the construction process.
• Extensive knowledge of design techniques, tools, and processes in CD production.
• Extensive knowledge of product specifications and detailing.
• Proficiency with MS Project.
• Experience with Newforma Project Center.
• Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Familiarity with LEED and WELL requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist design teams with technical questions and project coordination.
• Mentor staff and share knowledge across the studio.
• Lead as Team Leader on selected projects as needed.
• Promote diversity and inclusive practices within projects.
• Prepare and oversee design development through construction documents.
