Job summary

ERM is seeking a highly motivated Principal Consultant, Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources Services team in the United States. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and business development to deliver complex projects nationwide.

You will mentor archaeologists, oversee field investigations, coordinate regulatory deliverables, and support client relations across energy and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years of related paid experience.
• Secretary of the Interior-qualified archaeologist listed as an RPA.
• Demonstrated field experience and principal-level oversight for projects.
• Experience as author/reviewer on agency-reviewed technical reports (NEPA, Class I/III, etc.).
• Experience interacting with regulatory agency personnel as a consultant.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams of archaeologists and other specialists.
• Willingness to travel to field sites occasionally.
• Experience with mapping equipment and field technologies (e.g., total station, GPS, ArcGIS FieldMaps, Survey123).
• Driver's License required for travel to client locations across large area.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a permitted BLM Principal Investigator.
• Obtain BLM permits and other federal/state permits for projects and opportunities.
• Provide QA/QC review of deliverables.
• Oversee desktop studies and field investigations (surveys, testing, excavations, monitoring).
• Lead, supervise, and mentor archaeologists across experience levels.
• Coordinate with unit leads, directors, and partners to support performance.
• Sign as PI/Task Manager for cultural resources studies on major projects.
• Ensure safety, scope, budget, schedule, and quality compliance.
• Support multi-state and site-specific projects.
• Expand ERM’s profile through excellence and business development.
• Collaborate to deepen client relationships and drive revenue.
