Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to manage accounts payable, supplier payments, and treasury duties from our Melville, NY location. The role emphasizes accurate posting, reconciliation, and reporting of vendor obligations within internal controls and company policies.

The ideal candidate has extensive AP, accounting, and treasury experience and can work independently in a deadline-driven environment while collaborating across departments for accurate financial close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable, accounting, treasury operations, or related areas.
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience processing ACH payments, wire transfers, and other electronic payment methods.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices for operating expenses.
• Verify invoice details, supporting documentation, approvals, coding, and accounting treatment.
• Ensure expenses are accurately recorded by account, department, entity, currency, and accounting period.
• Maintain vendor master data and support vendor onboarding and maintenance activities.
• Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding issues.
• Monitor accounts payable aging and communicate overdue items.
• Identify potential accruals and support month-end expense recognition processes.
• Execute supplier payment activities, including ACH, wire transfers, and other disbursement methods.
• Review payment requests to ensure accuracy and approvals.
• Support payment release processes with internal controls and segregation-of-duty.
