Job summary

Itron seeks a Principal, AI Security Architecture & Engineering to lead the security strategy for AI initiatives. You will shape governance controls, engineering standards, and operational practices enabling safe adoption of AI across enterprise and products.

The role partners with Information Security, Legal, Privacy, Engineering and leadership to secure customers, data, and IP while advancing AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cybersecurity, security architecture or related field.
• 2+ years working with AI-enabled systems or generative AI tech.
• Hands-on experience securing agentic systems and AI orchestration platforms.
• Experience implementing security controls for cloud platforms, APIs and data protection.
• Proven ability to conduct threat modeling and architecture reviews.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, least privilege and secure software design.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise AI security strategy, architecture and roadmaps.
• Design and implement security controls across AI and agent lifecycles.
• Establish guardrails for generative AI platforms, models, and integrations.
• Govern privacy, data protection, transparency, explainability and bias mitigation.
• Lead AI-focused threat modeling, risk assessments, and security reviews.
• Evaluate emerging AI threats and improve vendor security posture.
• Embed secure-by-design principles in AI development and deployment.
• Advance AI usage in cybersecurity including detection and threat hunting.
