Job summary

Itron, Inc. is seeking a Principal, AI Security Architecture & Engineering to lead security strategy for AI across the enterprise and product portfolio.

This senior role combines cybersecurity expertise with practical AI security, partnering across teams to protect customers, data, and IP while enabling safe AI adoption. The role requires deep knowledge of AI ecosystems, governance, and modern security architectures, with a focus on secure tooling, logging, incident guidance, and ongoing risk

Qualifications

• Over 7 years in cybersecurity, security architecture, cloud security, or related field.
• Over 2 years with AI-enabled systems, ML environments, or generative AI.
• Hands-on with agentic systems, AI orchestration, non-human identities, and model integrations.
• Experience securing cloud platforms, APIs, secrets management, logging and third‑party integrations.
• Proven threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk evaluations.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, least privilege, and secure design.
• Ability to translate AI/cyber risks into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Itron's enterprise AI security strategy and multi-year roadmap.
• Design and implement security controls across AI and agent lifecycles.
• Establish guardrails for generative AI platforms, APIs, plugins, and workflows.
• Govern privacy, data protection, transparency, explainability, and bias mitigation.
• Lead AI-focused threat modeling, testing, and risk assessments.
• Embed secure-by-design into development, deployment, and operations.
