Job summary

Itron, Inc. is seeking a Principal, AI Security Architecture & Engineering to lead security for AI adoption across the enterprise and product portfolio. This senior role defines architecture, governance, and standards, partnering with Legal, Privacy, Engineering and Cloud Ops to secure AI ecosystems.

The ideal candidate will guide threat modeling, risk assessments, and secure-by-design practices while mentoring engineers and architects in a fast-changing technology environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cybersecurity, security architecture, cloud security or related field.
• 2+ years working with AI-enabled systems or generative AI.
• Hands-on experience securing agentic AI systems and AI platforms.
• Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, secrets management, data protection, logging and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise AI security strategy, architecture and roadmaps.
• Implement security controls across AI and agent lifecycles, including identity governance and privacy.
• Develop governance controls for privacy, transparency, explainability and bias mitigation.
• Conduct AI threat modeling, security reviews and risk assessments for solutions.
• Lead secure-by-design initiatives with engineering and product teams.
• Advance AI security capabilities to improve detection, threat hunting and incident response.
