Job summary

Itron is seeking a Principal AI Security Architect & Engineering to lead the security strategy for AI across the enterprise and products. This high-visibility role combines hands-on technical leadership with governance and risk management to enable safe, scalable AI adoption.

The ideal candidate will steward threat modeling, secure-by-design practices, and robust data protections while collaborating with Legal, Privacy, Engineering, and Product teams to protect customers and IP.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cybersecurity or security architecture.
• 2+ years with AI-enabled systems or generative AI.
• Hands-on experience securing agentic AI systems and workflows.
• Experience securing cloud platforms, APIs, identity services, and data protection.
• Proven ability to conduct threat modeling and security assessments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Itron's enterprise AI security strategy and architecture.
• Design security controls across AI lifecycle, including decommissioning.
• Establish guardrails for generative AI platforms, model integrations, APIs, and plugins.
• Develop governance for privacy, data protection, transparency, and bias mitigation.
• Lead AI-focused threat modeling, testing, and risk assessments.
• Embed secure-by-design principles into AI development and deployment.
