Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is seeking an experienced AI Platform Engineer to scale an enterprise AI agent program. You will serve as the bridge between business needs and technical teams, translating requirements, defining success criteria, and guiding initiatives from concept through deployment and adoption.

The role focuses on platform reliability, AI operations, and governance, while partnering with medical management, claims, customer service, and finance teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 4–7 years of software engineering experience.
• 2–3 years in ML/LLM operations, MLOps, or AI platform engineering with production systems.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks with metrics and datasets for LLMs and integrating them into CI/CD.
• Strong observability experience: distributed tracing, metrics, and AI-specific signal monitoring.
• Production ML pipeline experience, including versioning, prompts, A/B testing, canary deployments, and rollbacks.
• Cost optimization at scale through token usage tracking, caching, or model routing.
• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare/insurance/fintech) with audit trails and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Identify AI opportunities across departments and build a measurable AI initiative roadmap.
• Design future-state workflows for AI-enabled operations and automate manual steps.
• Bridge business needs to technical implementations, defining requirements and success criteria.
• Lead change management and adoption with training and stakeholder engagement.
• Measure business value with KPIs and optimize deployed AI solutions.
• Develop enterprise-scale governance for AI initiatives and scaling.
• Partner with leaders to drive AI strategy and evaluate investment decisions.
• Drive adoption to make AI a core capability across the enterprise.
