Job summary

Premera Blue Cross seeks an AI Engineer IV to lead AI/ML initiatives from conception to production. You will guide solutioning, mentor junior engineers, and develop scalable AI infrastructure while staying current with cutting-edge AI research and technologies.

This is a remote/telecommuter position with responsibilities spanning prototyping, cloud architecture, data pipelines, and governance to drive business value and reliable AI systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field or 2+ years IT/analytics experience.
• 5+ years developing, deploying, maintaining AI/ML systems.
• 6+ years building deep learning models with modern frameworks.
• Experience with ethical AI, explainability, fairness, bias mitigation.
• 3+ years implementing advanced prompt engineering techniques.
• 4+ years productionizing AI models with scalable data pipelines and monitoring.
• 5+ years Agile-like team experience.
• Experience with CNNs, transformers, GANs, LSTMs, and related architectures.
• Strong software engineering, microservices, containers, and distributed systems knowledge.
• Proficiency in Python and libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop AI systems and frameworks for AI applications and products.
• Lead prototypes and MVPs to validate AI/ML solutions before heavy resource investment.
• Help design cloud architecture for large AI systems.
• Design scalable data pipelines driving large AI systems.
• Develop low latency APIs and services to deploy AI models.
• Code monitoring for AI models and systems to ensure reliable performance.
• Participate in agile-like development processes and document procedures.
• Mentor AI engineers and share best practices across the team.
• Advise leadership on enterprise AI strategies and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to realize business value and governance.
