Job summary

Premera Blue Cross is seeking an AI Engineer IV to lead AI/ML initiatives remotely. You will guide solutioning, prototype new AI products, and ensure scalable AI infrastructure with strong software engineering foundations. Mentorship of junior engineers and staying current with AI research are expected.

The role emphasizes governance, collaboration with stakeholders, and designing robust data pipelines for large AI systems, all from a telecommuter position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or 2+ years of experience in a related IT/analytics position.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining AI or ML systems. Up to two years of experience may be substituted with an AI centered Master's/PhD or AI Engineering certifications.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop comprehensive AI systems and frameworks for applications and products.
• Lead prototypes and MVPs to validate AI/ML solutions before significant resources are committed.
• Assist in designing and implementing the cloud architecture of large AI systems.
• Assist in designing robust data pipelines that drive large AI systems.
• Develop specifications for low latency APIs and services to deploy AI models.
• Develop code for monitoring models and AI systems for reliable performance.
• Participate in a team with agile-like development practices.
• Create and maintain documentation aligned with team procedures and policies.
• Ensure peer reviews on all work and review others' work when requested.
• Advise AI engineers on best practices and methodologies.
• Keep up with new tools and concepts through reading and practice.
• Advise leadership on enterprise AI strategies and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to realize business value while ensuring AI governance.
