Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to accelerate enterprise AI adoption, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will identify high-value AI opportunities and build secure, scalable, production-ready solutions across business and technology teams.

The role requires strong Python, API, and pipeline skills, experience with LLMs and AI governance, and the ability to mentor engineering teams while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver enterprise AI solutions from concept through production.
• Develop scalable AI solutions using Python, APIs, pipelines, and cloud AI services.
• Work on complex structured and unstructured information, including document intelligence and data extraction.
• Apply LLMs, Agentic AI, RAG, and prompt engineering to business use cases.
• Build reusable AI frameworks and integration patterns for enterprise delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, architecture, security, and business teams.
• Establish strong engineering practices across testing, security, and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor teams to expand AI capabilities.
