Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior software engineer to design, build, test, and operate AI-enabled products with emphasis on retrieval-augmented generation and vector databases. You will collaborate with teams across engineering, product, and data to deliver scalable AI solutions.

The role requires 6–8 years of software experience, strong Python and Java skills, hands-on AI/ML work, and ability to work from a U.S. Bank location at least three days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 6–8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Extensive Python and Java or other OO language development experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, operate, and maintain AI-enabled products with guidance.
• Develop production-ready, testable code for components and AI workflows.
• Assist in building Generative AI solutions, incl. RAG pipelines with vector databases.
• Support agentic AI systems with planning, reasoning, retrieval, and tool invocation under guardrails.
• Follow patterns for scalability, reliability, performance, and cost.
• Troubleshoot model/output quality and root-cause analysis with proposed fixes.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance, security, and data privacy.
• Contribute ideas and prototypes around GenAI, vector search, and agent frameworks.
