Job summary

Samsara's Marketing Data and Analytics (MDA) Engineering team is hiring to shape the data foundation powering AI and self-serve analytics at scale. You will architect core Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models to deliver high-value data products and autonomous agents.

This role is open to candidates residing in the US. You’ll translate complex business questions into scalable data solutions, lead cross‑team initiatives end to end, and mentor engineers to raise the bar on

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering, including hands-on data engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL, with strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and the modern data stack, including Databricks (or equivalent).
• Experience building semantic layers and documentation optimized for AI ingestion and agentic workflows.
• Experience with agentic coding tools and validating AI-generated outputs.
• Experience building, shipping, evaluating, and monitoring LLM/agent systems in production.
• Track record leading complex, cross-team data initiatives with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines, Databricks Gold Layer tables, core data models.
• Design semantic layers and documentation enabling self-serve BI and AI-driven insights.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions and lead cross-team initiatives end to end.
• Lead high-impact data projects, ensure data quality and reliability in production.
• Mentor engineers and analysts, drive engineering excellence and code quality.
• Drive AI-enabled data products and agents with reliable integrations and evaluation practices.
