Job summary

Samsara invites engineers to shape the data and AI foundation inside the Marketing Data & Analytics Engineering team. You will architect core Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models to power segmentation, targeting, automation, and analytics.

You’ll translate ambiguous business questions into scalable data solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes building AI-enabled data products, agent workflows, and automated pipelines, with a flexible

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data/analytics/AI engineering roles
• Expert-level Python and SQL with data modeling
• Experience with data warehouse/lakehouse architectures and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience building semantic layers and AI ingestion workflows
• Experience with agentic coding tools and AI-produced outputs
• Experience shipping and monitoring LLM/agent systems in production

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data/AI foundation
• Architect and own marketing data infrastructure (ETL/ELT, Databricks Gold Layer, core data models)
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries for self-serve BI and analytics
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions with minimal PM support
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end-to-end and ensure data quality
• Mentor engineers and analysts; review code and uphold engineering quality
• Drive AI-powered data products and agents with reliable retrieval pipelines
• Automate workflows with AI across Marketing and GTM teams
• Develop high-quality Python and SQL code and review AI outputs before production
• Embody Samsara's cultural principles to scale globally
