Job summary

Samsara Inc. is seeking a senior data/AI engineer to shape the data foundation powering AI and analytics across Marketing, Sales, and Product.

You will architect Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models to enable self-serve insights and automated workflows. You will translate ambiguous business questions into scalable data solutions, mentor engineers, and drive AI-enabled data products in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and the modern data stack, including Databricks (or Snowflake/BigQuery).
• Experience building semantic layers and structured documentation optimized for AI ingestion and agentic workflows.
• Experience shipping, evaluating, and monitoring AI/LLM systems in production.
• Leadership of cross-team data initiatives and collaboration with Marketing, Sales, or Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own Samsara's marketing data infrastructure, pipelines, and core data models.
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries for self-serve BI and AI ingestion.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions and drive autonomous AI-enabled workflows.
• Lead end-to-end data initiatives, stand up pipelines, manage risk, and ensure data quality.
• Serve as senior technical lead and mentor engineers and analysts.
• Drive AI-powered data products and agents, with reliable retrieval and evaluation practices.
