Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Core Automation team to lead AI-first engineering initiatives. You will build and scale multiple teams, set technical direction for Agentic AI systems, and drive compliant, auditable production AI platforms at scale.

You will partner with Compliance, Operations, and Product to prioritize high-impact automation, ensure governance, and deliver measurable business impact while maintaining human oversight of AI outputs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years of engineering management experience
• 2+ years managing managers and building teams from the ground up
• Proven track record shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI applications to production
• Experience with grounding, guardrails, and AI system evaluation
• Fluency in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and modern AI/ML infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, and grow a high-performing engineering organization
• Set the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for Core Automation's Agentic AI systems
• Drive architecture and delivery of production LLM-based systems with guardrails, grounding, and measurement
• Lead multiple parallel engineering initiatives across compliance automation domains
• Establish engineering standards, code review practices, and AI adoption frameworks
