Job summary

Samsara is seeking an AI Engineer in the United States (excluding San Francisco and New York) to shape AI-powered automation across go-to-market systems. You will own architecture choices for low-code automation, custom AI agents, and backend services in a senior IC role.

You will prototype solutions, define reusable patterns, and collaborate with GTM engineers, operations, and stakeholders to translate business priorities into concrete roadmaps while raising engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 10+ years in software engineering with production backend shipping.
• 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Experience building and deploying AI agents used by real end users.
• Hands-on with agent frameworks and RAG with vector stores.
• Strong Python and/or Node.js backend skills with FastAPI or similar.
• Excellent communication to gather requirements and convert to buildable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture standards for low-code automation vs custom AI agents.
• Design and prototype production-grade AI agents and services.
• Partner with GTM engineering and stakeholders to roadmaps with trade-offs.
• Define reference architectures, observability, governance for AI systems.
• Conduct architecture reviews and address systemic risks.
• Document decisions and share technical guidance in internal docs.
