Job summary

MITRE Corporation is seeking a Senior Agentic Software Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate mission-focused software systems and data platforms. You will apply AI-enabled development techniques, guide sponsors on adoption, and help establish guardrails, tests, and CI/CD processes.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience
• Strong initiative and collaboration skills to work across teams and sponsors
• Proficiency in Python and secure coding practices
• Hands-on experience with agentic/AI-assisted development tools and integrating them into the SDLC
• Experience designing guardrails for AI-enabled engineering including prompts, secrets handling, and provenance
• Experience establishing quality/evaluation practices for AI-generated outputs

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate mission-focused software systems and data platforms
• Lead evaluation and implementation of agentic/AI-enabled tooling
• Develop production-grade capabilities with security, reliability, and scalability
• Define guardrails for agentic engineering and data handling
• Architect and operate cloud-native distributed systems (AWS/multi-cloud)
• Automate DevSecOps and CI/CD with AI-aware controls
• Produce documentation, runbooks, and evidence for compliance
