Job summary

MITRE is seeking a Senior Agentic Software Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate mission-focused software systems and data platforms using agentic and AI-enabled techniques. You will lead engineering efforts, advise sponsors, and establish guardrails for responsible use across cloud, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll work across domains, prototyping capabilities, maturing them to production-grade systems with emphasis on security, reliability, and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or higher with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, secure, and operate mission-focused software systems and data platforms.
• Apply agentic/AI-enabled development practices with human accountability.
• Lead program execution and rapid response mission work.
• Stand up agentic development toolchains integrated into engineering practices.
• Prototype mission capabilities and mature them into production-grade systems.
• Define and enforce guardrails for agentic tools and data handling.
• Establish evaluation and quality gates for AI-generated artifacts.
• Architect and operate distributed cloud systems (AWS/multi-cloud).
• Automate DevSecOps and CI/CD with AI-aware controls and policy-as-code.
• Produce documentation and runbooks for AI-assisted engineering and observability.
