Job summary

Blue Origin’s Lunar Permanence team seeks a tooling and GSE design engineer to develop and implement manufacturing tooling for lunar vehicle production. You will translate requirements into effective tooling and GSE solutions, enabling efficient, high-quality aerospace hardware manufacturing.

You will collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing teams, technicians, and quality to ensure producibility, manufacturability, and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience applying Design for Excellence (DFX) principles in tooling or GSE design.
• Strong collaboration with design, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, and GSE for efficient manufacturing with emphasis on modularity and rapid implementation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop new or revised build processes, tooling concepts, and concepts of operations.
• Plan and support builds of engineering demonstrators, test articles, and prototype hardware with hands-on fabrication and testing support.
• Drive DFX, conduct producibility assessments, support trade studies, and develop roadmaps to bridge manufacturing technology gaps.
• Proactively define tooling and GSE requirements to enable rapid design, fabrication, deployment, and iteration.
• Develop, release, and maintain engineering docs (CAD models, drawings, specs, procedures) to support tooling and production.
• Support tooling fabrication, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to ensure safe, reliable manufacturing.
