Job summary

Blue Origin, located in Kent, WA, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer focused on tooling and GSE design to support lunar vehicle production. You will translate requirements into tooling concepts, validate through hands-on fabrication, and drive manufacturability improvements across the full lifecycle.

The role emphasizes collaboration with design and manufacturing teams, development of release-ready engineering artifacts, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of manufacturing engineering, tooling design, or GSE experience.
• Experience designing tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, or GSE for mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, manufacturability/assembly design, and controlled docs.
• Experience supporting production operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Ability to perform hand-calcs for tooling strength and failure modes.
• Experience with issue-tracking tools and MS Office.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration; adaptable to a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, and GSE for efficient manufacturing and assembly.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and operations to develop build processes and tooling concepts.
• Plan builds of demonstrators and prototype hardware; provide hands-on support during fabrication and testing.
• Drive DFX and producibility assessments; support trade studies and roadmaps.
• Define and refine tooling and GSE requirements for rapid design and iteration.
• Develop and maintain engineering docs, CAD models, drawings, and procedures.
• Support tooling fabrication, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
