Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Project Manager in California to lead diverse, multi-discipline engineering projects from inception to completion. You will drive safety, quality, schedule, and cost control while managing contracts, risk, suppliers, and client relations.

You will establish project teams, coordinate activities across disciplines, and ensure efficient utilization of staff. Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related field from an accredited program.
• 7+ years of applicable experience.
• Experience on construction project sites or executing program management in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work overtime on short notice.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, engineers, and designers in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a multi-discipline project team from inception to completion.
• Establish project teams, coordinate disciplines, and optimize staff utilization.
• Manage all aspects of project communication.
• Lead RFP development, bid, and scope documentation.
• Develop and monitor schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
• Serve as client liaison for coordination, planning, budgeting, subcontracting, and compliance.
• Negotiate and approve primes, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Lead risk reviews with Risk Department and report cost forecasts to leadership.
• Oversee project controls, cost reporting, scheduling, and WBS establishment.
