Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in California seeks a Senior Architect to lead project teams across corporate, healthcare, data centers, airports, institutional, and government facilities from concept through construction.

You will adapt architectural plans to budgets and client needs, review drawings for compliance, manage change orders, contribute to schedules and cost estimates, mentor staff, and build client relationships to drive new business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an NAAB-accredited program and 7–8 years of related experience.
• Registered architect preferred and a portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design of projects from concept through design completion across multiple project types.
• Develop, modify and review production drawings for healthcare, airports, educational, and government facilities.
• Manage project schedule, scope, budget, staffing and change orders; ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost proposals; present to clients and executives.
• Mentor junior staff; coordinate with field teams during construction and site visits.
• Build and maintain client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to codes, ADA standards, and industry best practices.
